Impossible emperors

Re-composed skeletons from an old  Larousse Encyclopedia (1934). Weathered background. Decorative border.

When I started making these, I believed this -at last- may be commercially interesting. Not so, apparently.

When I read about the Roman emperors from Suetonius to (more) modern works, it always felt that there was something missing.  I realize that is always the case when having to recreate a historic persona. Some aspects are stressed, others are downplayed.

But in the case of these guys, the gap seemed enormous.

Yet, at the same time, even if a lot of them were proclaimed divine, they were so extremely and ostentatiously human; As if from Augustus to Romulus Augustulus a gigantic "Elcerlyck" was being performed.
